Search Menu
Any user can search the database, even without registering. To do so, follow these steps:
- Choose one or more modalities. To see studies irrespective of modality, select all of them. Highlighted modalities will be included.
- Choose one or more regions. To see studies irrespective of region, select all of them.
- Choose one or both genders. By default, both genders are selected. To see studies irrespective of gender, select all of them.
- Enter a minimum or maximum age. This criteria is optional.
- Enter keywords to search for. This criteria is optional also.
- Use these drop-down menus to specify AND/OR criteria.
- Quiz Mode shows the Chief Complaint instead of Diagnosis, and hides the Impression and Report. Quiz Mode is active
when Quiz Mode buttons are highlighted. If Quiz Mode is activated, it will remain so until deactivated, even if
you leave the site.
- Click Search to submit your search request.
- Hidden Keywords allows you to hide your search terms from other people viewing the screen. This value is also
remembered after leaving the site.
- Alternatively, you may select a bookmarked study from your Bookmarks panel. Click this button to open it, and the x in the top-right of the panel to close it.
Results Menu
Once a search has been processed, the results are displayed here.
- To search again, click New Search. The current results will be lost.
- To re-display results at this or any later menu, click here.
- This menu sorts results by Modality, Region, Gender or Age.
- This table displays all the results that match your criteria. If Quiz Mode is selected, the Chief Complaint will be shown instead of the Diagnosis.
Click on the green buttons to see a study. You may need to scroll down to see more.
Studies Display
Once a study has been selected, this display will appear.
- Some patients will have multiple studies listed. Click here to see a list of other studies in the Results Menu format.
Your previous search results will be preserved.
- This panel displays study information. If Quiz Mode is selected, the Chief Complaint will be shown instead of the Diagnosis, and the Impression
and Report will be replaced by a "Show" button that can be clicked to see the study information.
- One image from each series in the study will be displayed here. You may need to scroll down to see more series. Click the image to view the entire
series in the Image Browser. Depending on the size of your screen, the images may be smaller than shown here.
- You may bookmark this study in one of your lists by opening the Bookmarks panel.
Image Browser
Once a series has been selected, this display will appear.
- Please note that the image files may be large, and may take some time to load. During this process, a progress indicator will be shown. If no
progress is made after approximately half a minute (on a broadband connection), please refresh the page.
- The image shown in the Studies Display will be displayed first. It may not be the first image in the series.
- Right-click on the image to zoom in or out. When zoomed in, the controls (7) may disappear. This behavior will be fixed soon.
At the moment, zoomed images cannot be saved. This feature will be added shortly.
- The Save Image button does not work at this time. Use the Image Saving Panel to select images.
- Click All Series to return to the Studies Display.
- The Help button provides more information on using the Image Browser
- Manage Saved Images takes you to the Image Manager, where you can download images and manage your image list.
- The Image Saving Panel allows you to select images for later use.
- The first of these two numbers tells you which image in the series you are viewing.
- This number allows you to group together images from the same patient, study, or series. You may remove this number.
- These buttons allow you to move between images, or view a series of images as a movie. Place your mouse over the button to see its function.
- These buttons control the speed of the movie.
- The copyright notice for an image will appear on the bottom right. You may not remove this copyright. Doing so is a violation of federal law.
- If an image has labels, the Show Labels button will appear. Use this button to toggle between the labelled and unlabelled image. Labelled images can
be saved.
Image Saving Panel (4): This panel allows you to select images to later download from the Image Manager.
- To choose an image, select the button corresponding to its number in the series. If only one image is in the series, that image is already selected.
- Clicking the button again will de-select the image, and its number will turn gray.
- If a large number of images are in the study, you may need to scroll down to see them all.
Bookmarks Panel
This panel allows you to bookmark studies for later viewing, or to share studies of interest with other users.
- Use this drop-down to select a list. They are displayed in order of your lists, your institution's lists, and other users' shared lists. Once a
list is selected, click the down-arrow to view it.
- The owner's last name and the list name is displayed here.
- The names of individuals studies are displayed here. Click on a name to see the study in question. This panel will remain open.
- To bookmark a study, choose one of the 20 slots in your list. If you choose an occupied slot, that bookmark will be over-written.
- Click this button to go to the list manager, where you can view bookmarked studies at a glance, remove studies, edit the order that they are displayed, and control who may view them.
